• There are 26 bones in the foot, so the feet make up more than a quarter of the 206 bones in the human body.
• There are approx 40 joints, 19 muscles, over a hundred ligaments and a whole network of nerves arteries and veins.
• They are a “ a masterpiece in mechanical engineering”  
• By the age of 80 it is estimated that the average person would have walked 180,000 km which is the equivalent of 3 times around the world.

Bearing all this in mind it is probably not surprising that the foot and ankle can be subject to literally 100s of different conditions.

There are literally dozens of causes of heel pain alone!!!

Matthew can diagnose and treat a range of different conditions and formulate a treatment plan that will provide the best possible outcome. Some of the common conditions Matthew can provide diagnosis, advice and treatment for include:

• Chronic plantar heel pain
• Pes Planus (flat feet)

If clinically required Matthew can refer you directly for x-ray, ultrasound and MRI imaging in order to establish the correct diagnosis. Treatment may include a combination of the following:

shoe advice, sports taping/strapping, in shoe modifications, custom made orthotics or innersoles , stretching exercises,  referral to suitable medical and/or  allied health practitioners that he works with in order to get the best possible results for his patients.
